Default rebuild question

i have a question about rebuilding...my motor is starting to get more worn out and i have a spare long block f20(missing a few parts) i was thinking about rebuilding it completely but changing the crank, pistons, rods to a f22 set(which will make my motor a f22 right?) add a 3mm hg and strong studs

my question is should i rebuild it as a f20 or f22 if i want to build my motor for around 350-400hp/200-250tq..at the wheels

2nd part of my question is i have comptech sc on a f20 right now should i just get a aem n call it a day or maybe upgrade to a turbo setup?

3rd part is which motor would be a better candiate to be boosted a f20 or f22?
-thanks (sorry if this is pretty newbie)

F22 is better for the build all around. Better torque and power sooner, better spool time, etc. Why would you do a HG though since you're already rebuilding? They aren't as reliable as stock HG and lower compression pistons. THe reason most people run a thicker HG is to avoid rebuilding! Since you're already rebuilding why not go with lower compression pistons and stock HG? Best of both worlds! And as far as turbo vs SC that is really up to you...turbo is more work but way more potential and more fun IMO. I have an AEM EMS 1052U with wideband up for sale right now if you're interested btw...I'm parting out my turbo kit to buy a house here is a link to the for sale page...https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...f=107&t=741484 if you need anything off it just PM me for a price...good luck with the rebuild!

Prices can vary a lot really depending on parts and who installs it but it won't be too much more than doing it with stock parts (unless you got them free!) you will need to sleeve the block most likely if you go with lower compression pistons, that is where the extra money will come in. I've seen sleeving from $500 to $1200...unless you get FRM compliant pistons, then you won't have to sleeve. And as far as making an F22 rev to 9K, the valvetrain is up to it, the bottom end is not...I believe it's because of the weight of the parts so you'd prob have to rebuild the bottom end anyway to rev to 9K safely. Why worry about revving to 9 anyway? Most high hp builds I've seen the power falls off before than anyway!

DO a leakdown first and see what condition your motor is in before you go and blow your wad on a build.

the more you drive boost or non boosted the slower your car seems your just getting use to it...park the car for a week or 2 you'll see what I mean

Check this post, for some compression options for your new build.
