Replacing Driver Side Engine Mount
Hey guys,
Just wanted to make sure if I would need to do anything special to get my driver side engine mount removed from the car. Normally I would have unbolted both engine mounts, dropped the sub frame 1-2 inches and then lifted the engine from the oil pan. Since I can’t get to the passenger side mount due to my turbo, is there anything specific I would need to do to replace this mount?
Thanks in advance.

Yeah you don't need to drop the subframe. Just unbolt both engine mounts from below and jack the engine up a bit. You will probably have to work in there and unbolt the metal bracket that attaches the engine mount to the block (four bolts I believe) and remove that bracket and the engine mount as one piece. I don't think there is a good way to get at the big top nut on that assembly with it still on the car.
Its a bit of a PITA, and a set of ratcheting closed-end wrenches would have helped me to get the job done about twice as fast.

Got it. I did think about removing the bracket but it seemed to be pretty tough to get to the top bolts from under the car. Ill look into buying a wracheting wrench. Thanks for your replies. Happy Holidays
