My frustrations with KW continues. What a joke they are. The contitech application to measure belt tension via frequency is a joke. The install directions for the kit simply say to use the app. It does not give step by step for how to do the test. Smh.

As I decided to press on and "wing it," I come to find out you cannot even use the app because the test area is 139.5mm long, the app only can preform the test if it is between 200mm and 800mm long. Their is not a single spot on this kit where the distance between two pulleys is longer than 200mm. What a JOKE!

Yet again KW, you suck! (YES, I said joke 3, now 4 times!)

i just ordered my kit last sunday, they haven't ship it out yet

should i cancel it ?
lol. i really don't want to deal with those, n when i drive i will like to drive like i steal it, otherwise i would drive my honda fit, instead of a sport car

FWIW, I've had my KW kit installed since November, have put almost 4000 miles on it, beat the piss out of it for 3 days straight at the Tail of the Dragon, and drive it hard every time I get in it. I've not had a single hiccup so far. So I don't think we can categorically say they are all time bombs. The bolts that failed seemed to all do so pretty early on. And we've only seen 3 or 4 people with failures out of at least several dozen kits sold.

If you have the extra $2k to spend on the SOS kit, go that route if you're afraid of this one, but I think this is being blown out of proprtion.

With all that said, if the price were equal between SOS & KW, I would have probably gone with SOS.

i think you guys are overreacting. Some of you guys might not have been here long enough, but KW had the same kind of issues when their first kit for the DBW ap2s came out. Their pulley system had issues and so did the oil relocation fittings. But they corrected the pulley system with an updated one, and the oil relocation fittings, if done in a different order, never had an issue. It makes me wonder how much of these problems are installer issues. I agree their instructions suck (they always do), but i think once you get it done its a worthwhile kit. I know CJ has been very responsive to all my emails. Just bought my kit last week, so we'll see how it goes. IMO for the price, it's the best high HP sc'er kit.

Not sure why you guys keep saying it costs $2000 more for an SOS kit. Pricing the you tune kits (04-05 anyways) is about a $859 difference if you add the grams injectors and fuel pump into the equation for SOS. Pricing the SOS with the grams injectors and fuel pump, 1200 blower upgrade, and racing heat exchanger puts the kit at about $5454.50 versus $4595 for KW w/o tuning. Sure it costs a little more for SOS, but it has proven reliability and people have hit 500whp with smaller pulleys.

The KW kit, including ems, pump, injectors, and map is $5500. Pricing out the SOS kit with high boost pulley, upgraded HX, 1200 blower, AEM EMS, Injectors, Pump, and Map came out to about $7400 IIRC. I had a big spreadsheet comparing it all back when I made my purchase decision. Yes the you tune kits are much more similar in price, but if you need everything, the KW kit is a great deal (only $1k more for EMS, injectors, pump, and MAP).

As I mentioned in the other thread, I paid only about a grand more for the SOS2 kit during their spring sale including extras such as the hood dampers.

Yup, noted. But a group buy for the KW kit went for 4999 I believe, so they're both always moving targets to some extent. I'm still anxious to see how ours compare toe to toe You going to make the fall Dragon event?

I also noticed that mine came with Flashpro which might be cheaper than the AEM. So it is indeed a moving target. Regardless, I'm not so knowledgeable about cars and SCs so honestly I was OK paying a bit more to have fewer worries. Some of the threads where you guys are discussing bolts and stress points and such leaves my brain hurting :-)

A head to head (or toe to toe) comparison at the Fall event would be awesome but I'll warn you.... I'm never with the fast group of drivers like you are. It should be interesting regardless but you definitely have the driver's advantage over me!

Btw I will try my best to make it in September but the baby has arrived! If she lets me get away for a day or two, I will be there.
