Rough Idle after cold start
Hey Fellas
A few days ago when I started up my S I noticed that it was idling kind of rough and wouldn't rev real smoothly while driving. I also noticed that if I hit the throttle while it was cold at low RPMs a faint "tick tick" noise would come from under the hood for a second or two.
After the car is warm, no problems. I haven't been VTECing since the issue surfaced, so I'm not sure if I'm making all my power but things seem fine after the car is warm. I'm takin my car in to Church Auto tomorrow but I was wondering if you fellas had any thoughts/ideas? Thanks

xviper, it looks like you hit it on the nose...appears to be valvetrain
Sean had the cylinder head stethiscoped and said that there's definitely some unwanted noise coming from the front half of the head, and that it could be a retainer
My S will be headed over to Tony Fuchs to have the work done. I might throw on some 650cc injectors and a 9 lb pulley while its there.
What I'd like to know is, how did my valvetrain fail when I haven't been reving past 8K? My stock injectors are maxed out past 8400 RPM so I've got a soft-touch limiter at 8200 RPM for the time being. Maybe its just time for a new valvetrain (my S has over 100K miles on it)
Any thoughts?
And does anybody know how much one of those super trick high-flow heads from alaniz go for?
