s2000 ebay turbo with low boost
Ok I know this has been talked about several times. I know an ebay turbo kit is not as durable as a higher end turbo kit. But from my readings with a turbo kit on other cars, the kit is just fine with low boost such as 8psi. Would the kit be just fine on just 8psi? I dont mind if the turbo blows after a while as I can just replace that. I mean if the kit works fine with that low of boost I would be quite happy with it. Anyone have any input on it? I am really not looking to get bashed about it. I know you get what you pay for which is why I asked about running low boost on the kit.
You will wind up replacing most of the ebay kit parts right off the bat most likely. Especially if you are getting one of those complete no name ones on there. Manifold will probably crack quickly, couplers could suck, wastegate I wouldn't trust either. Also will still need oil relocation kit, fuel system, engine management etc.
You will probably spend more in the long run going that method. I looked into it a few years ago as I was being cheap lol. I decided against it and very glad I did.
For FI it is really worth it to spend the money for quality parts to have a quality setup that will last. Going cheap will cause more issues and cost more in the long run with replacing items etc.

Lol x2
Its not a matter of it blowing or a matter of how much.boost Cheap turbos like that don't have the same flow characteristics as nicer Turbos. Resulting in loss of power, drive ability problems etc. Let alone it failing resulting in much more catastrophic problems.
I invested in cheap parts and it didn't work out. Just spend the $$..go fast=money. Always has always will.

I understand if I want to go alot faster, I would need to buy a good kit. But I was thinking of just using the kit to make possibly ~300bhp? I am not looking to go crazy and push ~400-500hp with it.
Listen man,
Those china-made kits are made wirh one thing in mind, "profit regardless of quality and function". Youd be better off just givig the money to me and staying with whatever you have now. At least then you wouldnt ruin your engine and/or who knows what else. And you wouldnt have invested all the time in putting the crap on and taking it all off.
You get what you pay for man. If they market strategies allowed, they would sell those kits for 100 bucks and still profit. But they know a 100 price tag would make it blatently obvious of the kits quality and they wouldnt make any sales since we as consumers judge items off their price and we would stay far faaaar away from them.So what do they do? They price it cheaper than any other kit, but still up in price enough for those who dont know any better to actually question, and consider, buying the kit.
You are currently on of those people.
Tell me, if the kit was for sale for 150 bucks, would you even consider buying it?

Ok we REALLY gotta get away from calling these turbo kits EBAY kits. EBAY didn't make the kit or ANY of it's components. If Ptuning sold their kit on ebay, do you call it an ebay kit? no...It's still a ptuning kit SOLD on ebay.
I had 2 godspeed kits and both of them were awesome. I had ZERO issues with any of their kits once installed. Are they ebay kits? no. But yes, they are sold on Ebay. They were ALSO sold on S2ki from a vendor as well.
Look at the components, where they are from and if they are true bolt ons vs the ones that are universal.

Anything below the godspeed kit I would not waste even $100 on. They are crap. Will replace practically everything maybe besides intercooler by the time you are done. Don't forget any kit you get you will still need to buy standalone ecu $800-1600 plus injectors, plus tuning, oil relocation, clutch etc.
Supercharger you can get for 2500 or so, bolt on and should be good to go. Turbo will need more parts. Don't expect to get any setup for under 5 grand used or more new.
