S2000 Shootout Race

How about we have this coincide with the 2010 Homecoming 2 Meet in September? There will already be quite a few cars in attendance for that event.
Suggestion:
We could do the road race cars at Buttonwillow on 13CW as the track is only ~125 miles from LA. If there is enough interest, I could arrange to have a day at the track with a few sessions for S2000s only. AMB Transponders would also be made available.
We can separate cars based on power or tire compound.
A safer way might be to have people set practice/qualifying times like Time Attack, and then group people together based on that to minimize issues due to traffic.
The drag racing could be done at Fontana, Palmdale, Irwindale, Banning or Pomona. I'm not a drag racer, but I am sure we have a few drag guys here from Southern Cal who can chime in.

I think this should be a drag only event for now. Especially since we are talking about leaching onto an IFO event. There won't be time for such a large event. Maybe it could grow into something larger, but I think we should build a decent foundation to grow on before talking about a multiple day event and different venues.
Just my 2 cents.

Id be down just to come along for the festivities
, also anyone who doesnt want to drive but wants to fly down, we can share hotel rooms to cut down on costs, have a few large group dinners, make this a HUGE EVENT. Anyone who wants to fly down I can get buddy passes

You could approach this in several ways, to include:
1. Test and tune night. Pretty lame...not much significance...but pretty easy to arrange and low cost.
2. Full blown event like this:

An event like that requires at least one big name shop to step up and lead the event, sponsors, entry fees, etc. This requires a lot of hard work and dedication, but can yield significant dividends for the S2000 community. Buschur Racing hosts this type of event every year for the Evo community and it has always been a huge success. We need a shop like inlinePRO or Full-Race to step up to the plate and lead an organized event like this. I am sure you can get sponsors like Exedy, PTE, Hondata, etc. to contribute in one form or another.
It simply comes down to how far you want to go with this idea.
