Sorry for your loss. If you have steel braided lines for your turbo I've heard that they can burst due to the heat emanating from your turbo/manifold and could possible catch on fire. Just because they are "steel braided" doesn't mean they can't leak or burst, it has happened to me and I'm sure many others. I hope you reach an acceptable settlement.

Now you may not be able to buy it back but you can sure strip the hell out of it before you let them tow it away. I've had 2 cars totaled and each time i stripped everything I could off of them, excluding the things that would allow it to move wheels, suspension, steering column, etc.
I'd start wrenching and take off whatever you could before you turned it in. I'm not sure if you can steal engine parts but i dont see why they'd give you a hard time for taking off the modified parts, wing included.
I had a VW Scirocco burn the same way many years ago. Based on that experience, I'd recommend the summit underhood kit. Problem with an engine fire is this: By the time you notice smoke or flames, you do NOT want to open the hood unless you have a monster fire extinguisher because the fire will instantly flash UP (towards YOU) due to the sudden oxygen supply, and not being constrained by the hood (think flashback, like the Kurt Russell movie).
The problem with detecting a fire is that our hood is sealed at the back and you (driver) won't see any smoke or flames until too late... In my case, I realized I had a problem when I stepped on the brake pedal and it went to the floor; The fire melted the brake fluid reservoir and I lost pressure!! My fire was caused by a fuel line coming off and spraying gas on the exhaust manifold--Fast and hot fire!
Good luck with the replacement. Hopefully you have all the receipts for your mods. Be persistent with the insurance company, they'll probably try to give you stock value only..
