ive heard from others that you dont feel much diff until vtec, is that true?
yes. since the blower is driven by the engine via a belt it provides boost based on how fast the engine is spinning. The engine RPMs aren't high enough below vtec to provide enough boost to dramatically increase power. Once you hit vtec though, the combo of the new cam and the start of big boost give you massive power I think you get something like 25whp at 4k rpm so below vtec.. not much.

not to sound pessimistic, but isn't that kind of dangerous? if you hit vtec at the wrong point on a curve, will the boost destabilize the handling? of course in a straight, it's all good.

I know that's a tough one but, get the house! After a few nights of sleeping in it, the S2000 will start getting a little old.

To everyone else the SC, I have a question. I know this isn't an issue that you probably are too worried about if you have, or are considering, a SC but.......

Do you or have you seen much of a drop in fuel mileage after the SC install? I know that if you've got your foot in it, more power = more fuel consumption. That's understood. It's just that my car in stock form, get's way better gas mileage than I expected it to when I'm driving easy. I'd hate to hurt that much, especially considering what fuel prices are doing lately. Since the relative performance at sub-VTEC rpms isn't that different (according to most of you anyway) I was just wondering if there's much change in fuel economy. I would expect a little drop just because you've added a bit of weight to the car and the SC itself is drawing power from the engine just by being there.

I'm just curious as to how much difference you folks have seen?

Thanks & Drive Safe,
Steve R.

In normal day-to-day driving the mileage is the same as stock. If you gas it around town everywhere you go it's kinda bad... Lowest I've seen was 13MPG, but I'd just gotten the car and I was in and out of VTEC&Boost constantly.
