SC/Turbo = Increased MPG ?
I know this question is sort of off-topic, since most of us are interested in horsepower and psi...
But I've heard it coming from people's mouths in the past, that turbo charging a car will actually increase it's MPG. I always thought that sounded kind of bogus. For sure going FI will increase the efficiency of an engine(performance-wise).... but the MPG?
If this "myth" rings true.. How about Superchargers?

turbos can do it, look at the new sky red line, it gets slightly better mpg city and highway than the na version, But superchargers couldn't I don't think since it's running off of the engine, the drag on the engine forces it to somsume more... someone e-slap me if im wrong here

I think we need the mythbusters here to do a real hands on test so we just don't BS things around
However, I can see what tyraid2k is saying and I'd probably have to say that turbos might increase milage a TAD and superchargers doubtful. Even if both gained a little milage, I doubt it would be much at all.

Well look at gears. They are supposed to increase milage by a bit theoretically, however, I went from ~25mpg to about ~19mpg. Its hard to factor in the "right foot" to the equation
btw ENTHRALLED, I love your picture

I believe if the car is driven at everyday speeds it will inprove MPG. It has to you have more HP moving the car now. Your power to weight ratio inproved. I am stock and my close friend is turbocharged. Without me hitting VTEC at all around the city I saw 23MPG after a full tank. Him Turbochaged with a GT30 Daul BB. He saw 27 in the city with some VTEC

Depends - I got better MPG on my ITR with a JR SC. Of course this is a PD roots SC and not a Centrifugal type.
I also had a turbo on a 99 GSR and it improved as well just slightly.
Of course this was in controlled "light foot" testing - every day driving resulted in 10-20% loss in MPG in both cases.
