Default scary moment today-

decided to take the car to work today, so on my way to lunch. I look over at my oil pressure gauge (autometer) and its pegged on zero!! I freak out shut it down and roll into a gas station. pop the hood and check for leaks and check the oil. everything is ok. hmmmmmmm so I start it up. still no fuel pressure but everything is fine AF is fine, water temp is cool. I get out again with it running and check the sending unit. when I got back in I had oil pressure. WTF so I get home and take a look at it and all seems fine. mind you I work 30 miles. no metal in the oil nothing. So I start it up. zero oil psi again. so I start taping the side of the gauge and the needle starts going nuts. finally it stoped at the correct psi. looks like the gauge is done. anyone else run into problems with autometer oil psi gauge?

Mine has been working fine for over a year. How is yours setup as far as the sending unit?? Mine is T'ed off the stock pressure sender to a relocation line and mounted up on the firewall.

I've had bad luck with Autometer in the last couple of years, bad enough that I'll never buy them ever again. I went through 3 boost gauges, none of them read the same as the MAP sensor and varied in boost as much as 4psi. I wonder if they're made 100% in the US anymore or made overseas and just packaged in the US.

they do have good customer service still, call them up and send the gauges back that you're having trouble with and they'll fix it.

If you're going to replace the gauge I recommend these guys: http://prosportgauges.com/

They are local to me and I hear nothing but good things about their products.

its off a sandwich adapter, im sure its not the sending unit. considering I hit the side of the gauge with my hand and the needle went to where it should be. hit it again and it dropped back down and went nuts

The sensor is going bad. I see it all the time. Best bet would be to put the sensor at a remote location off of the motor. Vibration is what kills them.
