Sorry to hear that man. Where do you have the drain BTW? Is it in the oil pan or the girdle just above the pan? Are you using a oil feed restrictor of around .040" for a BB turbo? I think thats about the size you want for a BB turbo. If you have the drain going into the oil pan, it may not be draining adequately and will cause a turbo to prematuraly fail. The best place is to have the drain in the girdle and have at least a -8 drain line.

Hmmm. I'm almost positive it's in the girdle. I don't exactly know what a girdle is but I used the lines inline pro gave me. and the spot they used in the instructions.

Does the oil drain go to the bottom of the motor to the oil pan or does it route somewhere in the middle? The turbo should have SOME play that is supposed to tighten up once the turbo gets oil pressure but I really hope its not oil visible inside the hoousing . Do you have any photos of the compressor where you can see the oil? If you ARE going to need another turbo Ive got a friend with a 3076 and it has low miles as well. Im sure he could cut you a deal. I believe yours is a 3071 is it not? Hope you get that straightened out man, keep us posted on what you find

Where exactly did you buy the turbo? That's not a standard Garrett GT3076R. Maybe it's some Precision variant?

Is it water-cooled? The compressor wheel should never touch the housing.

That may be a Garrett GT3076r with the E-cover.

The girdle is the roughly 4" tall section that goes all the way around the block just above the oil pan. It's what the oil pan bolts to and it has ribs on it. Where does IP have the drain going?

Okay. It is the 3076 with different cover. I got it from inline pro.

The amount of oil isn't alot, it's basically what you see in the picture where it's smeared.

The drain is on the very top of the oil pan where it's ribbed.

I'm pretty sure you guys are right. One day after driving there was something smoking around the turbo and I heard a slight sizzling sound. The smoke went away after like 30 seconds and I couldn't locate where it was coming from. ( I called the guys who worked on it, and they said just watch it blah blah) It isn't burning oil though (at least not enough to be noticeable when I check my oil)

This is a touchy subject since I don't want to bust out the guys who worked on it, but this isn't the only problem with the car right now. I at least want to call and talk to the guy who worked on it to see what he's going to do about it before I talk about how much is wrong with the car after I got it back.

Also, these posts where you scrubs post smiley faces aren't needed. I'm looking for help, not someone to lol at my turbo being raped.

The turbo's center housing can be replaced by Garrett under their BB service plan:
http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarre.../BBService.html

As long as the housing is in decent condition, it'll only run you about 400-500$ to replace it with a new one. You simply ship them the center housing (CHRA) and they ship you a new one back.

I'll definitely check into that. Any more opinions are welcome, I'm feeling out my options and stuff right now.
