Also, these posts where you scrubs post smiley faces aren't needed. I'm looking for help, not someone to lol at my turbo being raped.
Now, back to the turbo. If you have a restrictor and oil is still passing the control rings(seals) then its a drain issue. That generally wont cause failure, but will cause smoke. If you dont have a restrictor(look and make sure you do) that can cause failure pretty quickly.
As posted, you can swap the cartridge and get a discount, rather than buying a new one for the full price.
I have some oil in my turbo also, only on the cold side. I thought maybe I needed a rebuild but I only had about 4k miles on the turbo. Doing further research it seems a consensus that almost all turbo oiling issues are related to the oil drain or too much crank pressure under boost. Seals are down the list of things that will cause excess oil in the turbo housing, though if they are gone it will definately be a reason. My 1st 'fix' will be to relieve crank pressure thru a vented catch-can with a couple of additional hole in the valve cover. I'm down for the winter right now and haven't done the CC yet so don't know if it will fix MY issue but am hoping it will.
