I want to shoot flames too. Hence my predicament whether to go TP or High flow cat. Problem is shooting flames in Irvine is like setting off a flare for Irvine PD to see.

Mine shoots flames about once in about 5 or 6 times if I hit the rev limiter.....but that's at 9700 for me...needless to say pretty cool and I'm glad it doesn't happen everytime it would take away from the thrill. O and ditto on the rotary I use to drive a RX7 FD and that thing wouldn't back-fire it would catchfire...burn about 7-10 secs out of the exhaust ..that was wicked. The best part was people driving up and saying my car was on fire and I would just tell them "I know, it does that"....haha

Biggest possible.
Change your limiter from a fuel cut to ignition cut

That's about what mine does, maybe even less often. The best is when someone tries to race you (on a track of course ) and you pull a length or 2 before shooting a flame at them

Your EGTs have to be somewhat high also for the ignition cut rev limiter to work.

I could get consistent flames at 850F+ degrees, below that and just puffs of smoke come out...not that I tried it that much

I perfectly tuned car won't backfire so you car isn't running optimally when its shooting flames out the back.

However, there is nothing wrong with it aside from your "losing" power by doing it really.
Thats completely false.

I read someplace that continuing to dump fuel into the motor during shifts kept the turbo spooled. "Afterburning" or something. Is this a viable strategy?
