I don't know anything about FI tuning, how much it costs, and/or how involved it is. Most likely I'll be paying someone to do it.
I'm the king of of cheap, but don't bother with FI if all you have is $2k. Even $3k is probably too little (especially if you're paying someone to do it all)...

Even for a cheap budget turbo like the GT28?

Sad day. I got disillusioned with all the cheap turbos on classifieds
I could increase my budget to $6k. Would that be enough? Just a longer wait is all.

Even with a cheap kit I think $3k would be impossible if you are having someone else do all the work. Maybe if you are doing the work yourself it would be do-able (but still tough).

$6k is much more reasonable. Still going to be tight with all the labor though.

If money was not an issue I would recommend a ptunning kit with a Garrett gtx3071r.

Money isn't really an issue if time isn't concerned. It will just set me back a bit if I have to save up more than what I have right now. I was under the impression, what with those sub-$2k turbos on classifieds, that I could just drop what I have saved up right now. Saving up another $3k will set me back a few months for sure.

Again, I'm not looking for piston blowing HP. Just something fun to feel that little kick and the whining of a turbo.

Guess I need to do more research.

$6k is not enough either. Are you using the whole S2K drive train? Including transmission and rear diff? What diff do you have?

I'd set aside more stuff and prepare for things to break... FI setups are more costly than just the cost of installing the turbo and tuning it. You'll find that other stuff needs upgrading due to the increased torque and heat and all of the added stress from both of those. GL - i'd stay NA and just rev it out with some CAMs, intake, TP, tuning, and possibly ITBs if you have the tuning skill or know a tuner with the skills for it.

I'll tell you that if you FI induction it will not be cheap. I purchased a used vortech kit for $3500.00 That's just the kit.

Then other things i needed, gauges, clutch, larger heat exchanger, fluids, installation charges, dyno, and etc... before you knew it, i'm in it about 7k now.

You may get the kit for $2000-3000 used, but keep in mind unless you plan on doing the labor yourself, thats going to be another $1000-1500 plus clutch parts etc...

and that 7k is just for the low boost kit, if i want more boost, i'll easily be looking at another $4k in parts and labor.

I'm using AP1 drivetrain with a MK2 supra rear axle. Been tested up to 300 hp, but I don't really want to run any more than that.
