My build thread with spool times is around here somewhere ...

Coming from a greddy kit, the gtx3071r is to slow. But has plenty of meat once it fully kicks in at 4k (10psi)

I would recommend going smaller

If 300 is all you want why not just a used comptech novi 1000 kit? Roughly 2500, will literally come with everything. You won't need a smaller pulley, injectors, nothing. You'll have 285 whp out the box. Stock clutch might slip a little, but I've seen guys go up to 300 on it. Longevitity of the clutch might not be there, but it works better for your budget.

Under 300hp why even buy a turbo waste of cash. Slap a nitrous kit on the car good new kit under 600 Easy cheap power.

IMO cheap turbos are a waste of money. Greddy turbos kits are junk read up on them for the price there are better turbos. The only thing Greddy did right was the CARB cert.

I think your money could be better spent.

If your stuck on a turbine the sc route may be your ticket. As others have said. That would be better, sounds better too, if your into that.

EFR 7163. Not as small as a GT28xx, but should still give you killer spool.

This list of research just gets longer and longer haha. I've been reading into superchargers too. I was under the initial impression that I could get a budget turbo setup for cheaper than what it would cost to stay NA. That not being the case, I think I will increase my budget a bit before I decide to do anything. Let's aim for what I can do with $6k, definitely not over $7k.

I don't want to push past 300 because that means I'd have to replace a bunch of other things in my car. I don't really like Nitrous. I don't have a good reason either haha.

Thanks for all your input btw. Makes research a lot more fun when you're not stabbing in the dark alone.

Supercharge your call all day long for your power level needs. Get a SOS kit. I have sold two over the past four years for around $3500. I am sure you can find a deal.

6k you can do alot. My opinion has been changed on nitrous. I used to think it was a bad idea. Until I got a s2000. For the price there is no better/cheaper way to get 75 hp for an s2000.

Just saying I would rather have EMS bottle and tune. Lets say For around 2200.00 Give or take a few hundred. 300 hp right there or close to it. Most of your driving the bottle is closed, only time you open it is to get to the next light faster than the car next to you, thats pretty much it. The car is stock with bottle closed and reliable. Stock s can do twisties plenty fast na. EMS and tune there is so much that can be gained there also, lowering vtec. Sell bottle setup when done with it. Resale is much better for EMS and bottle you can get most all your money back there. Used turbine setup ehh your gonna never get your money back on resale IMO. Do what you want but for your hp wants why spend 6k?

Then all the money you save you can buy clutch, paint, tires, rims Exhaust, fuzzy dice and one cd that makes bov noise.

Have fun.

Heh. Maybe it's the stereotype. I just don't like the idea of having to turn it on and off, refilling, etc.
I don't plan on selling this car. I've already spent so much, there's no real reason for me to sell it.
Remember, this is a Toyota Corolla AE86 with an F20 swap.

Yea, that's what everyone keeps telling me. Already have enough cars though haha. The swap alone cost 2 86's. The 3.8 in my Boxster is also worth more than the car.
But hey, that's half the fun!

Some teasers:
