smaller pulley for rotrex supercharger
#11
I have not yet dynoed my new pulley.. My previous numbers were an upsetting 360hp , 232 tq. @ 10.2 lbs Not at all what i was expecting since i do have 11.8 compression. However i am going to upgrade the injectors , get kpro , and a few more things and ill post up a new dyno Hopefully next year if all goes well.
I was told other dynos are higher than the one i dyno on.. But it doesnt matter to me.. I want to be closer to 400hp on ANY dyno.
Ken a few more things to consider depending on ur rotrex set up , I have upgraded tensionor pulley , and i have replaced all but one pulley in the drive to handle a higher rpm. My kraftwerks kit came tuned with a 9000 rpm rev limiter . That went out the door before the first dyno pull.. lol I think my tuner set it at 9300. We all go passed 9rpm.. Lets not lie to our selves.. lol
My setup is moderate from what i have seen others do. There are more than a few people that have gone more out of the box than i have.. far as ID 2000's on e85.. But i wont steal anyones thunder ; I love to see differnt setups and hear there stories

I went with a smaller pulley as well 95mm.. But from what i am piecing together i see that the problem is not the Rotrex; I am no expert just testing and tuning; So what i am doing is replacing the pulleys on drive that have failed for me , that people claimed "caused slipping" on there kits. Im wondering if this is what overheats the Rotrex to eventually fail. I dont know; I cannot fully review as i just changed it a few weeks ago. Its holding fine.. But i have not had a full track day with it; and probably wont till next season bc id like to upgrade other components (oil cooler , injectors , Kpro).
Thanks.

when i spoke to kw about their 90mm pulley they told me they wouldnt suggest as i wouldnt make more power. I currently make peak hp at 7800 rpm but can rev to about 8200rpm (on an ap2)... they claimed anything over 7500 rpm would be severely over spinning the s/c and would likely lead to failure... they did however tell me a smaller pulley is fine on their smaller blowers.
that being said... quite happy with the 451/301 i put down on pump gas and if i had to do it all again i would stay with the same pulley
