its entirely possible that your flawed oil return line actually caused your seal in the turbo to blow out. Once the line backed up a bit due to the dip right before the pan (BIG no no) you ended up putting pressure in that line where there normally is none. This in turn causes you to start pushing oil past the seals in the turbo. If let go long enough it can eventually just wreck the seals to the point that once the line is corrected its still too late.
