Default SOS SC IAT relocation grommet part #

Hi guys,

T da B here, #1 lurker and Billman fanboy. It's finally time for me to start giving back to the community. I recently completed the IAT sensor relocation mod for my SOS supercharger kit and wanted to share some useful info with you guys. The mod consists of moving the IAT sensor from before the supercharger to right before the throttle body. This will yield much more accurate air temperatures, and I have read that some people even needed a retune afterwards. This can be accomplished by drilling a 1/2'' hole into the aftercooler and using a rubber grommet. The diameter of the IAT sensor is 10mm and the inner diameter of the grommet I found is 9.5mm, so I'm confident there won't be any leakage.

The grommet I used is a Essentra Components GR3035A, which can be purchased here. Not only is it cheap, but you don't have to buy 10,000 of them! I hope that this info will help someone out.

Stay tuned, as I have a couple more really cool posts for you guys coming soon!

Cheers,
T

I thought about shaving the sensor as well, but after researching it seems like the difference is minimal. Supposedly you'll get the best response out of an open-element sensor, but unfortunately none of them are plug-and-play.

Have you tested it in high heat and long WOT pulls, it seems the sensor could pop out pretty easy during boost?

It seems pretty stable so far. Not sure if you've ever tried removing the sensor from its hole, but it's really hard to get it out! There are 4 large barbs on the bottom that really keep the sensor in place. Another user in these forums (also running 12 psi) has reported no pressure drop as well, so I'm pretty confident that it won't budge. I actually had to use a bit of lube just to get it in the grommet!
