Default SOS vs Kraftwerks

Hey guys. I want to do a supercharger this fall, but I can't decide which kit to go with. I know both the pros and cons of each kit. I like the finished look of the SOS better, but it sounds like the Kraftwerks might be better. Just looking for some opinions and maybe if I'm lucky a SOS and kraftwerks dyno graph overlay. Thanks guys

This has been brought up time after time...but here it goes.

Depends who you talk to, but my personal opinion is go with the SOS kit. Easy to work on, easy to change pulleys, low maintenance, looks appealing when installed. You can run up to 18psi with the 1220sl blower they sell with the kit (with a built motor only), or you can upgrade to the 1200 right away for a little more and run 22 (obviously with a built engine).

Either way, in the end, all you want is somewhere near 400whp and both kits can get you there.

rob! who hit what 740hp on q16 is only a headgasket isnt he?
and kutsujula sp? hit how high on all stock?
OK sorry, I worded it wrong. SOS will not sell you those components needed to run high boost when you have a stock engine.

The guys who have hit 700+ on stock internals can turn the boost down with ease, we have to change pulleys. Im sure 18 or more psi can be ran on a SC setup, but its not "ideal."

That kind of power on a stock motor "in my opinion" is just just retarded. You are asking for something to break. If running that much power was such a great idea companies like Inlinepro and SOS wouldnt build their motors.

Just my $0.2.

yeah, I'm just looking for something around maybe 350whp. Theres not a lot of big power cars around where I live. I just want some horsepower on tap for the few corvettes and camaros.

I really like the SOS kit for easy of installation and the appealing looks. I like that I don't need to run a full piggyback. Which should help with reliability.

I like how the Kraftwerks kit builds boost sooner. At least it looks like it. If the SOT kit had the same reputation as SOS or kraftwerks I would get that. I like the sound of having power at the mash of the pedal.

I went with the KW kit because of the ease of install. I prefer the air/air intercooler vs water/air intercooler, because I will never experience heatsoaking in a track situation. The harder i run the car the cooler the intercooler gets.

The power delivery of the Rotrex blower is arguable better psi per psi. Given equal HP the rotrex blower will have more power under the curve.

The SOS kit does have the ability to upgrade which the KW does not. So it all depends on your long term goals.

I like the water/air intercooler better for stealth. If I go with the KW kit i would paint the intercooler black.

Long term goals are 350whp. I don't plan to go anyhigher. The car is just set up as a nice daily driver during summer. I really like the sounds of having more power under the curve, but are we talking 10whp or 50whp more.

I think its going to come down to a dynograph layover to make my final decision.

Also has anybody ran with an electric cutout/stock exhaust or is that to hard to tune with these kits.

if it means anything the SOS with 4 psi more and +50whp more put down a slower track time vs the KW kit on the same course, mods and conditions. hows that for effective power delivery?

518135 has the upgraded heat exchanger on his SOS kit. He has no heat soaking issues with his.

EX: we both went to the local drag strip one night, after we ran 3-4 times you couldnt touch my CTSC aftercooler it was so hot, but the SOS aftercooler was ambient temperature.

So, in conclusion, the SOS kit with an upgraded heat exchanger gets rid of heat soak.
