where do you keep getting this 18 psi from? one of the sos guys here had said at 8300 rpms 12 psi was the blowers limit.

and whats the point of going 9:1 built motor and 18 psi sos to get the same amount of horsepower that a stock compression motor with 12 psi?

and also you keep saying that they wont sell it to you unless you have a built motor; etc. Thats not true. I talked to chris about buying the sos kit with the 1200 blower and he never asked me if i had a built motor; etc. Shit thats none of his business if i wanna go stock engine 20 psi and blow my motor
user 518135 has a 1220sl at 18psi.

user 518135 has a built motor at 9.8:1. He went that CR because at the time he has an UR turbo kit on and the motor was built for a turbo application, not a SC application. His motor is also a 2.0L, not a 2.2L...big difference.

To my understanding Chris told 518135 that they wouldn't sell him the larger crank pulley to net 18psi unless he had a "prepared" engine.

Ill admit, 400whp is low for 18psi, but the compression ratio and his displacement is hurting him big time.

isnt there a 1000 dollar price difference? hows the non aftercooled sos kit? does it come with a intercooler kit or do you have to buy it yourself.

Graves, what year is your car?

If it's 06+, then any price difference between the SOS and the KW is quickly eaten up by additional mods or add ons needed for the sos to make the same power as the KW. (The 364.8 hp dyno on the SOS site is made with a $1500 J's header and a $1300 T1R exhaust).

If you read the D Sport article, even with the SOS making more peak power they still liked the KW better during the track test. The usable power and "fun factor" were both better on the KW, not to mention the lower laptimes it produced.

I haven't shopped the kits for the earlier year cars so it's hard for me to compare them, but I would expect similar results.

I'm stock AP1 with 10psi and I am hitting 400whp on a Dynojet. My 362 is on a Mustang.

Something just doesn't seem right. If I had 18psi...holy carp...
Do you have the regular SoS Stage 2 pulley ?? what size pulley you got ??..

The question is, Whats after the stage 2 ?.. Cometic head gasket and which smaller pulley ?

Coz on the SoS website, they have a list of all the "High boost" pulley sizes for the Comptech Novi 1000 Supercharger but not their own supercharger...

3.4 pulley (no crank pulley) is what I have w/ a upgraded heat exchanger (made a huge difference, as others have mentioned no heat soak now). No HG...stock compression. I've been tempted to go to a 3.0 since there are others running that on stock HG. I'm looking at doing more in the Spring (1200+built engine+above 15psi+etc.) if I can get SoS to respond to my emails...lol...I'll just have to call them.

My car is a 2000 ap1. Is there anything that I should be worried about with boosting this motor. I've read some stuff about the heads not liking 9000rpm and retainers breaking.

I've been reading thru the sos and kw threads. Theres a lot of information, but a lot of it seems old. You guys have brought up a lot of new information that I didn't see on the threads. I think I'm leaning towards the kw kit. What are the upper limits of the kw kit. I have heard of people overspinning the blower at fairly low boost.

from what i've read, if you have the kw high boost kit (10psi) you'll overspin the blower by 5% if you rev out to 8500rpm. btw, this is on an ap2. i've set my shift beeper to come on at 7900rpm just to be safe.

Thats what I have been reading. The high boost kit was the way that I was going to go. Does the greddy ems come pre tuned. I can' t tell from the website they have it listed as "KraftWerks-Spec E-Manage Ultimate". Not sure is spec means pre-tuned or not.

Can anybody tell me how much the kw kit will be overspun on a ap1.

I believe the AP1 kit comes with a different sized pulley than the AP2 so it is not overspun. The best thing to do would be to call Kraftwerks and chat with them about that and the e-manage.
