Default Stronger Axles

I could have sworn I may a post about this a bit back, but I can not find it. I have spent the past 27 minutes (yes, not 26 and not 28.. exactly 28 minutes) searching and could not locate the post.

Well here goes - due to how much power I am putting down and my driving habbits I have put too much wear on my OEM Axles. Right now my car is down for the winter, however am expecting to be just as strong if not much stronger than I am now (358whp/203whp) when I come back.

Driveshaftshop.com makes their Axles in different stages depending on power.
They have a Stage 2 Axle Rated for 350whp & a Stage 5 Axle Rated for 600whp. Due to the fact that I am planning to get more power I figured its best to go ahead and get a stage 5. So I called them about 1 month ago to check pricing and availability. The person at driveshaftshop told me they are currently moving their store to NC, along with that they are re-designing the Stage 5 Axle so its bolts directly to the Differential without the use of a flange. They stated it will be approximately 1 - 1.5 months before it is available. So I called today to double check the status and they told me they just got settled into the new place 1 month ago and are still working on their Stage 5 Axle. They told me it will be approximately 1 - 1.5 months from now before it is ready.

I am not doubting their service by any means, but I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to get a backup plan.

Can anyone recommend any other shops for strong axles?

Thanks in Advance

I have really been looking into those, but the one thing I don't like is that they are only rated for up to 350whp. I am already over that limited by 8whp and am planning to be much stronger by next spring.

I would go for stage 5. I think the stage 5 comes with stronger outer CV and the outer thingy that you bolt the rotor+ wheel onto ...forgot the name of this thing

However you will transfer the weak link to diff. Your best cost effective mod is to upgrade the whole rear drivetrain.

Well, a personal friend of mine just referred me to Gator Racing Axles. From what he has told me their axles are much stronger than DSS setups, however they do not make an S2000 Application.
I gave them a call about 30 minutes ago to ask if they can custom fabricate a set and a little bit more about their setup. He asked what my car was used for and what kind of power I am putting down now and what I'm planning to put down. I told him that I want an axle that will be able to handle the power I am putting down without snapping - told him that I was looking at a Stage 5 from DSS. He told me that his axles are to the extent that you will snap the transmission before you snap the axle.
He told me to fill out the form on the front of his page & he will call me tomorrow morning to discuss the particulars on my car.

He did though mention that the axle that he is talking about recommending is a High Power Axle. It is designed for cars that go from the garage to the trailor.. then off the trailor for a quick 1/4 mile pass, then back onto the trailor to the garage. He said that the left/right turning of a daily driven car will put excess stress on the bearings & seals inside the axles. He said they will start to click about 7 months down the road, nothing bad - just a clicking noise. He said depending on how bad they get in about a year I might need to send them back for a refresher kit.

I would not be so concearned about being on the HP limitations of the axles. remember, its not hp that breaks axles. Its torque!

Well, I am only running 203wtq on my current setup and my axle broke. Also I have only done a single launch on my car - traditionally any racing I do is from a roll.

It's hard to believe that a workshop that don't have knowledge of the car can make such claim. If you can get him to gaurantee his statement then go ahead.....if the diff breaks then get him to pay for it

Do you know what metal material he use?

I think he is making the claim based on his other products - that the materials he uses are top grade.

Here is a technical page on his website that explains a bit more.
