My guess is that there is an air bubble within your cooling system or your thermostat may be bad. It goes up to 4-5 bars because it's not circulating through the system due to the thermostat not being able to open if there's a big enough air bubble. You turn off the car and either the coolant cools down a bit or it gets passed the air bubble, finally opening the thermostat (bubble is still a problem and can still block thermostat)

My suggestion would be to try bleeding the cooling system using billman's method. If the problem persists, move onto thermostat.

Good luck,
Ed.
oh i don't turn off the car to cools down, when i stop driving and the car is still running on idle it cools down,
I don't have a link to it but if you search on google for "Billman bleeding guide" or something along those lines I'm sure you could find it rather easily.
Ah then that leads me to believe that you have an air bubble within your system. Have you recently done a coolant flush or have you noticed any coolant where you park?

i don't think it's leaking anything,

i just changed the water in the radiator last night. opened the drain plug from the bottom and then opened the radiator cap. let the water all go out and then closed the drain plug with my hand and filled the radiator with new antifreeze and then closed the cap. after that i opened the drain plug again for a little bit and let the water comes to make sure no air and then closed it tight and closed the cap. after that the car is still overheating.

this is my first time to change it on this car and it was overheating before i change it last night, I've been driving the car for about 5 months with no problem, i don't know how an air bubble would get in the system.

from what i have red that it could be a head gasket ??
what are symptoms should i look for if it's a head gas ket?
i hope it's not, that's will cost a lot

Guesses of a head gasket, would be milky looking oil and white smoke from exhaust are basic easy ways to tell.

That is not the proper way to get air out of the cooling system. Like I said, look up billman's method.

There are many ways for air bubbles to slowly form. Even a slightly cracked hose will do it.

ok so i tried taking the air that's in the system and looks like some got out. but the car is still overheating

i took out the thermostat and checked it and it looks fine

opened the face of the water pump and it looks new and everything is spinning in it

took out the radiator and ran a water in it and it seems not blocked

checked the oil and it looks fine and new, not milky and no sign of coolant in it

i don't know what's wrong with my car

There is nothing to a thermostat, it can look fine and still malfunction. Replace the thermostat and properly bleed the cooling system.

when you had the radiator out would it flow full strength of the water hose without any backup? it just sounds like a clogged radiator or bad thermostat and my radiator cracked on the top very minor i was smelling coolant and had to put dye in to see the leak. you can get a 170 f thermostat as running a little cooler doesn't hurt just don't use the 140 f as that is too cold i've got a novi 1000 and never seen more than 3 bars that being said on a scan tool in summer stock cooling system was hitting 217 f in traffic and once heat soaked it just stayed that way now i have a 170 f thermostat 170 fan switch fullblown radiator and vis vented hood coolant stays very consistent and i don't have the bog i use to good luck 5 bars is scary
