Yea i did this on my daily driver 240 tap starter and bolt cam rite off, would never do this to my s2! I really never gave a shit about the 240sx lol. But i kept it 2 yrs had no ill effects over it.

 

ill admit to doing the starter trick but that was with beater d series i would never do that to my S. but the o.p. does make sense thats pretty sweet, i never thought of that. nice trick!! but with a breaker bar no torque wrench!

 

Nesar, were you able to get your pulley off?

 

I haven't had a chance to work on it yet. I will probably get to it tomorrow.

 

Excellent...now I wont need the 8 foot breaker bar...and I wont have to jump out of a tree to get it loose! Thanks!

 

1: NEVER use a torque wrench to loosen ANYTHING. This is what breaker bars are for

2: tapping the starter is also a terrible idea, both the flywheel, and starter gear weren't designed to take anywhere close to that type of load.



for the tip though! Seems like it would help loosen things up for sure

 

I used a heat gun since the cars been sitting for a few months now. Worked pretty good and didn't take insane amount of effort.

 

 

Are you saying you used a heat gun to get the whole thing hot, then used compressed air to cool the bolt back down?
