You sure? What kind of piggy back is SOS using on these kits now? What adjustment features do you have with it? Do they still utilize the Comptech Adjustable FPR?

Many of us have used vafc's to refine the tune on the old Comptech system with adjustable fpr, they work great. You would easily fix that drop in the mid range. Looks like you would gain about 20whp and good trq.
Yes their stock kits use the FPR and a different type of fuel management... its like a little black box that pulls timing and alters AFRs at a pre tuned level. Pretty nice little thing to have, much safer than the ECM that used to come stock with the CT kits.

Don't know what a "ecm" is, doesnt come on any CT kit i'm aware of, but the "esm" Electronic signal modifier) is only to hide boost from the map, doesn’t tune anything, nothing unsafe about it. Its been working great in my car for years. Aside from the addition of a vafc, the only thing that tunes the CT kits since their inception was the adjustable fuel pressure regulator.

Sounds like SOS have barrowed a little tech from VT with utilizing a box that pulls timing, can already say I’m not a fan though if its correcting afr as well and doing a sub par job. I'd consider ditching that box and just replace it with a vafc. I never understood offering a box that gives everyone a pre determined tune that you cant modify and expect it to work on even 50% of the customers cars. It’s the base kit so I get that, but having at least control over your afr's is crucial long term, too many variables which cause it to fluctuate. You will make more power and safer with a fpr/vafc. Timing doesnt need to be pulled with just 6-7 psi with an SC. Comptech proved that years ago. They still don't provide a device for pulling timing.

Yes ESM is what I meant. SoS's box is much more sophistocated from what I could tell, Vortech uses the split second modified to remove timing I think?

Basic story - this shit holds you to the ground really well.
So far, gravity holds me to the ground really well...

I'm not disputing that there are plenty of times when downforce is valuable (like on the track). Just couldn't resist teasing a bit.

And damn, that is one clean car! Makes mine looks like an abandoned wreck.

Originally Vortech used the Split Second VC2 in exactly the same way as Comptech use the ESM but used another Split Second box to retard timing under boost. This may have changed however.

I looked at using a Safc to lean down certian points but then they told me my timing would be screwed up... is that true?

Firstly, use a VAFC not and SAFC.

Secondly, no it's not true.

ya i thought about more boost and all that crap, but I also like the reliability factor as well.... how well do these motors hold up at the "higher boost" and stuff like that.... I like having a car I feel safe driving across the country and stuff if i want to .... any ... like link topics on this someone can post or does anyone have any word there? i know if you get the upgraded version of SOS kit... you can get another 50-70 horse.... what do you guys think?
