LHT is a two hour drive from me, and I haven't had any luck getting an appointment, so I'm trying to solve the problem on my own. John said he has used a Turbosmart DV with 2.5psi spring in some instances and finds them to be a little quieter. So I guess that is another option.
Oh boy... LHT strikes again. There electronic communication leaves much to be desired. The previous owner who sent the car there for boosting probably drove around with the compressor surging like crazy and John telling him "ain't nothing but a thing..." because he's done hundreds of installs, lol. Boost needs to be evacuated at the TB's side (after the blower). When you let off the throttle your BOV needs to "spring" into action and vent that boost before it heads back to the impeller and forces it to spin the other way. That's why you hear flutter and as others have said its very bad for your supercharger. Tial Q BOV with a -2 psi spring will have you covered or that Forge one flanders linked above. I'd never rely on a plastic DV or recirc valve for this important duty.

Sounds like its unanimous as to what the problem is. It's surprising how many people out there (not in this forum) think it is normal for a SC to flutter, even this loud. But thanks to you guys I am getting this fixed. I ordered a valve from Turbosmart to start because its plumbing is identical to I have now, so the install should be pretty easy for me. And it should be much better than what I have in there now. If that fixes the problem, great. If not, I'll go with the Tial or Forge and take it somewhere to be installed.

You got the Kompact Plumb Back with 25mm ports didn't you....? Hopefully it'll move enough air. I'm interested to find out. If it solves your issue I'll be impressed and eat my hat. If it doesn't, well....you know.

I got the 34mm which lines up well with my current plumbing. I'll report back to the thread once I get it installed. Still waiting for delivery but hope to have it installed this weekend.

For my Paxton 1000 with 3 inch pulley, I installed two blow off valves because I couldn't get them to flow enough individually. Having both running ended up stopping all the compressor surge I'd been hearing.

Yikes. Hopefully I don't have to do that. First I'm trying the Turbosmart. If that doesn't work, probably the Forge, which is huge and hopefully will solve the problem.

There's no hopefully about it. I ran more boost than you did and had zero flutter.

Default Problem solved!

Hey guys. I have an update. I got the Turbosmart 34mm bypass valve, but it didn't fit with the existing plumbing. So I took the group's advice and bought the Forge Supersize. That thing is a beast and makes the plastic one I had look like something you get from a gumball machine. Anyhow, I had the new Forge installed and the flutter is completely gone. Instead I have the wooshing sound of air, which is better for sure, but still pretty loud. I guess everyone's is that loud? I used the db meter app on my phone and the average noise is 95db when cruising on the highway, which is pretty loud. But I do have a vented carbon fiber hood, so I guess that comes with the territory. Anyhow, flutter problem solved and I appreciate all the help. Pic below of the new valve installed.

Yeah, it's going to be loud. Mine was still pretty audible venting through the intake pipe and filter, but absolutely tolerable. I think the open hood is what makes all of the difference.

You know it's coming, right?

I TOLD YOU SO!

Lol, kidding. Glad you got it sorted.
