As a newbee to FI I can see that confusion abounds. I live in Los Angeles, are there any turbos that pass smog? If not then what choice do we really have anyway?

Register your car in a state that doesn't have emissions. I'm going to have to register mine in Florida before my birthday in November because I'll have to have emissions by then. My cousin lives in FL so hopefully I can pretend to live with her

Your only choice is now Vortech, or a used Comptech SC.
Nothing else has CARB certification.

Anyone who says you can't feel the difference it will make is either joking, jaded, or a complete idiot.

Cool. Do you have any more information? Same owners? What's been going on?

You know it blows me away...this Comptech thing. The first charger they put out they weren't smart enuf to intercool it.
Wow, that's a pretty strong opinion.

I ran a non-AC Comptech up to 8psi and never had a problem.

IMNSHO the only reason Comptech developed an AC was because when Vortech came out with it it was perceived as necessary for marketing reasons.

And yo might say Comptech copied Vortech's AC but that then you'd also have to admit that Comptech copied Comptech's entire SC.

I also run a non-aftercooled Comptech at 7 psi with no issues.

Thought there are a lot of other choices for FI now a days. You have to understand that Comptech was the first FI kit on this car and it paved the way for everyone else.

Installation of the Comptech was easier than Vortech and the kit was slightly cheaper. If you look through the old threads you notice that when Vortech came out it did not make as much power as the Comptech at the same boost levels.

Let's not forget Modifry and his 180,000 miles without intercooler or aftercooler.

The comment was apparently from somebody who doesn't know anything at all about Comptech. Shooting off his mouth that way was silly, but he's probably smarter than the comment makes him look. We all make mistakes.
