Default Switching Map Sensors

I'm running aem ems, i have a chance to trade map sensors with a buddy who's going back to stock. my question is it just as simple as changing the setting in the aem or will the map have to also be tweaked for the change in sensors? i know how to change the setting in aem. i just wanna know if the car will run as it is now.

You will need a GM 3-BAR harness, which you will need to solder into the OEM harness (cut the OEM MAP clip off, solder the new leads on).

Not sure on how to set it up, but it is ridiculously simple... There is some sort of a MAP Wizard that you use. The GM 3BAR is already pre-calibrated within the EMS. Just got to switch from the OEM designation to the GM one, and voila.

Maybe "timg" can chime in?

im pretty sure in the ems you just select what map sensor you are using from a drop down menu and then its calibrated.

1. Make two copies of the map.
2. On one copy, change the MAP sensor.
3. That should cause the load breakpoints to rescale.
4. Highlight and copy the entire ignition map from the original file.
5. In the new modified file, highlight the same ranges of the new ignition map and paste over it. This will apply the correct values to the rescaled ranges. Everything above the old maximum will be wrong.
6. Copy the old fuel map and paste it over the same load and rpm breakpoint range in the new fuel map.
[optional*]
7. At this point, it's probably a good idea to straightline 100 KPA to the new peak load reading. (from 100 KPA to 300 KPA, all values in a given rpm column are the same)
8. Go into the advanced fuel > boost fuel correct to apply boost comp to the boosted regions.
[/optional]
9. Fix the upper bits of the ignition timing.
10. Go test. Everything below 100 KPA (or whatever your old peak was) should drive identically.

Steps 7-8 work when upgrading the AEM base map, but if you're already tuned non-boost comp to 170 KPA may not be the best solution. Extrapolation of a non-boost comp map or straight extension of a boost comp fuel map is necessary to update the fuel map for your changes.
