Default Thinking of welding dump toob into exhaust..

Let me first begin by my car's sound. She is quiet. Very stock sounding and unless i'm boosting, you dont hear so much of a peep! Ofcouse when i start to boost a lil you hear the turbo and bov.... but good gosh, when i lay into her and the WG starts to dump............well.. i was told she sounds like a building crumbling or i'm draggin metal on the ground hahaha..

I have the invidia q300...

Well i'm not much of a fan for the sound and i would like to have it welded into the exhaust somehow... I was also told this could cause lots of hp loss...

But how much would I lose? I plan on doing 3mm hg and upgrading my kit and i dont mind sacreficing some ponies to keep my car quieter at full boost...

Any experience?

The more HP you make, the more you will lose. I personally agree with you. But many people Im sure will not agree with us.

I'm not sure of the HP your at right now, but In my opinion, any lose is worth it.

I've been thinking of doing this too...but I don't want to mess to much with my turbo setup as it's running great. I know it's not a huge deal to do but it is a bit of an undertaking. As an alternitive I'm going to see how a bend in my dumptube works.....I have to say though with the top up windows up and music on the noise isnt so bad

I'm just annoyed by the sound...Personally I dont drive like a bat outta hell anymore but i do like to have my fun.

I"m not too worried about the cops because I barely push the car at all...Its just there when i want it lol...

I just dont wanna lose TOO much hp but i guess producing more power would offset it lol

Make more POWA lol. I think that if you make the dump tube flow efficiently in conjuction to the exhaust you should be fine as far as hp #'s do a dyno before and after. I plan on doing the opposite. Open downpipe and dump.

You really wont lose that much power, as long as you make the merge angle very low. If you do a 90 degree merge it will mess up the flow, but other than that, not much.

The reason you dont lose much is because on low boost you bypass the turbo and the exhaust goes mostly through the wastegate. On high boost, most the exhaust goes through the turbo. There isnt a huge amount of air going through both, its pretty much one or the other.

Mine is recirc'd. Here's some bad pics. Cost about 10hp and a significant amount in the midrange, but it so much better sound IMO
