Time for a new project I've always wanted to take on. Swap my F20 for an F22. Before anyone asks...No I did not blow my F20 I suffered a scored #1 cylinder wall shortly after installing the Vortech in its stock form. The ceramic portion of a Denso Iridium broke apart from detonation which pitted the piston top, combustion chamber, and scored my cylinder wall.
The head could be saved and the pitting was removed when it was sent off to Laksey Racing for Stage 3 headwork.
I ended up putting in a new piston and rings as a temporary fix. #1 cylinder was about 10-15psi lower than the other 3. I still managed to put down 414 @ 14psi, so it wasn't hurting too much.
Many are asking...John_Z why don't you build your short block? Well, I plan on keeping the SC, and don't plan on boosting more than 15psi. Plus my buddy owed me a huge favor so the motor was the return.
My head was sent back to Laskey for a hot tank, valve job, and surfacing. I will be using a 2mm HG to lower compression. Everything else about my setup will remain the same as my F20 setup.
I'll try to keep this thread updated as I progress from install to dyno. It will be slow as I am working solo on weekends in my garage.
As she sits now
So why an F22 instead of another F20? Because I can.

same freakin thing happened to me with my damn denso plug. thats why i now have a built block and ngk plugs
Don't get me wrong, I like NGK plugs and use them in almost everything. But I don't think they will hold up against detonation any better than Denso plugs.
