Don't get me wrong, I like NGK plugs and use them in almost everything. But I don't think they will hold up against detonation any better than Denso plugs.
I disagree. The IK24 has been notorious for doing this to s2ks. If you are planning on changing the gap the plug is very dangerous! I had them in my car and pulled them out for NGK 7173 coppers. It is the Iridium in general that is very fragile. I am sure the guy you quoted went with NGK racing coppers which are way stronger than the Iridium IK24s.

same freakin thing happened to me with my damn denso plug. thats why i now have a built block and ngk plugs
big reason why it's getting widely known not to use the denso iridiums. This is happening in multiple different motors. Killed my buddy's 350awhp isuzu impulse, and has happened to numerous f20c's and f22s.
Johnny boy: disregard the PM ?..I see your post! pics are looking good...I only wish I lived closer to CA...instead of Tampa, FL..do you have an idea in your head what improvement on the TQ side based on going to the 2.2L? If not, I know you will shoot me the dyno.
When I re-dyno I'll use my 4.0" pulley. On my F20 I hit 14psi at 9300. I should be around 12psi at 8500. Hp should be a hair shy of 400 due to lower compression. By my estimation tq should be at least 20lb ft more. Once I get dialed in and put some miles on the new short block, I'll bump it up to 14-15psi.
