Default The time has come for the buildup

Last year I money shifted my s2000 and its been sitting in the garage all sad and pretty with no engine. I have a fully built head ported and polished the whole 9 yards. I want to go turbo and hit the 450hp mark on octane. My question is weather or not to build the bottom end since it already has forged pistons stock and what not.

Ive been researching into different set ups people have done and have found some 450 whp with stock internals. Now the thing is I have crower rods sitting in my garage and im thinking I might just sell them and leave the bottom end as it is and slap on the built head. or just get some CP pistons custom made but then shit gets real expensive and I dont want to put more than 5 grand into the build. I have the intercooler and could sell the rods for a good 500. I have a mechanic who can do all the work for free so labor aint an issue. I just need the turbo setup and ems. im not really sure what to do and confused, everyone does something different!!!! I want a reliable car that wont break. 450hp would be plenty for now.

what can I do, what would YOU do?

450 whp under 5 grand, i don't see that happen =/... just the aem ems 1052 is $1300 and the tunning is 800 - 1000 depending on the tunner...

you are looking at 7k + for 450 whp

regardless of money I can wait a little longer and come up with it but what would be the optimal set up.

I was looking at 2QYK4U set up

heres a link. https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=482559

he mentions that his engine is stock.

if a built head was slapped on with a nice head gasket would there be any improvement?

looks nice, and seems to be quite a bit cheaper than most. does it require relocating the battery?

never knew manifolds were such a big deal when trying to get big numbers

they are not.

Tuning is the big deal on making big power.

I think you would be OK with the stock short block with an InLinePro 3 mm gasket as long as you don't push it too much past 450 whp.

will a built head make any difference? or should I just sell the unit and have the stock one?

I spent 2200 bucks building that son of a bitch and id hate to just slap it on and do me no good... rather get some money out and use it towards building the turbo.

what do you think?

If its already ported and polished then it will be that much easier for you to make 450. Why get rid of it after you have already spend time and money building it. Just keep it and drop an inline pro kit in there with a gt35r and you are good to go with a 3mm hg and some tuning.
