You should be pulling much harder with a vortec. My stock numbers weren't much off.

yup, while I was on the track I remembered the motor trend article reccomending a 8k launch. Altough I coudn't possibly do that, I did launch at some high RPM's. It was a one time thing, cost me a new clutch at 8k. Boy did I learn the hard way.

 

I am scared to beat to the car to death.

That run was with a 4000 rpm launch.

My trap speeds are telling me that I could be in the low 8's but I don't want to break it I enjoy driving the car.

 

The S is not a drag car, so don't worry about it too much. If you do it again, try launching at 6000. Each hard launch will probably take a year off your clutch life.
