transmission strength
i've posted many times before on this topic as this part of a car is easy to take for granted until BOOM and u got issues. it's been brought to my attention that there are other routes for strengthing the tranny (gearbox specifically) than paying crazy money for something that is really track/high hp oriented--PPG from what I've been able to find (that can withstand significantly more power than stock or treated gears). Recently I've been talking with some buddies and they said certain nissan/toyota transmissions can bolt up ( with minor adjustments i assume)? Also, are there certain gear treatments or upgrades that can handle 500ish whp without spending upwards of $5k plus?
I've done some searching of other threads but nothing real helpful in terms of affordability/applicability (<- i might have made that word up). If someone else finds/knows something all help is appreciated.

I haven't recieved mine yet but I got a deal through CFT. They bought 5 tranny's that are being built to their specs.
1 for their S2K
1 for Red Star Motorsports
1 for mine
and 2 too sell.
My price is a little different then what I can say but if your interested in the tranny call Central Florida Turbo and ask for Fernando. Tell him Gabe referred you.

PPG stuff is no joke. I had a built PPG box in my WRX and it was one of the best things I ever did to that car. They definitely are pricey but once you have it you won't have to worry. Until reading this I didn't even know PPG made gears for the s2k.
and for anyone stuck between deciding on straightcut vs helical go helical all the way. I've had both and while the straightcut might sound cool it WILL quickly get old. Even the helical box makes some gear noise.

Has anyone look at putting in a supra gearbox in the s2k?
I have a nissan skyline r33 gearbox in mine everything seems to fit into the stock location. I just needed to modify the bellhouse, mount, custom flywheel and a custom driveshaft. If I have to do it again I would use the supra 6 speed.
