transmission strength
where did you hear a supra tranny is all over and cheap?
for the good supra trans which is the v160 which is all i would run in a s2000 if you are going to all the trouble of switching it out. The trans is $4,000 used (7k new) and you cant really find them. not to mention the cost for a custom clutch, flywheel, driveshaft and adapter plate.
The trans is known to handle up to 1500whp without any issues though.

I can add a good and tiny gearbox that can handle power, proven to handle 1000hp abuse if it´s in good shape .
The ZF from BMW M3 E36, 5-speed up to -95 and 6-speed -96 and up.
I´ve used it in Nissans and Volvos, love it.

Edit: Here´s an old vid showing the ZF and original car in action:

Right now we just have one set of tailshaft gears in stock with a 1.125 ratio. We are probably going to make a few sets of the first through fourth dog conversion soon, possibly with the following ratios:
1st 2.54
2nd 1.88
3rd 1.42
4th 1.09
Please take a look at our website for more info:

The only problem I see is the housing, if the S2K got a weak one it will flex and no gears in the world will be enough.
Not saying we have weak housings but that might be the reason if people kill PPG trannies.
I'm going ZF later on, I've seen heavy 1000+whp drag cars using that tiny box.
