Tuning Options in Central Texas? What About E-Tunes?
Hey guys, I already have one topic started in the "Central Texas" region forum on this site, but I wanted to get a bit more of a wide audience with this and hope to catch some different eyes. Also wanted to ask about Evans E-Tuning.
The only current tuning option I have is JMS Racing in San Antonio, and although I've heard generally positive things about them there has been a couple stories that slightly put me off. It also worries me that they're so close to Noribilt and JJ's Motorsports in SA, and although I know there's a feud between the different shops I know the drama that's caused amongst them and it makes me deeply question their professionalism. I've only ever caught sight of this from the Noribilt/JJ end, but it still worries me if JMS is of the same mindset.
Boost Logic in Austin and T1 Racing are out of the question due to the fact that not only are they out of my price range, but I also think they focus mainly on GTR's and low-level exotics/supercars.
I've had bad experiences with Noribilt in the past, and every time I've had to deal with them they've always come off as quite careless and unprofessional.
The only other options I can currently think of would be to get an E-Tune from Evans, although I'm not too familiar with getting a car tuned by someone without them ever even looking at it, which strikes me as rather offputting... There's also "Reckart" tuning over in Austin, however they seem to deal exclusively with domestic/muscle cars and I'm unsure if it would be a good idea to even ask for them to tune my car since they're likely unfamiliar with the S2000 platform.
TL;DR - JMS Tuning or Evans E-Tune? Otherwise, if anyone has any suggestions for the San Antonio/Austin/Houston area, please let me know. I'm willing to spend upwards of ~$600 for tuning.
Edit: Is anyone familiar with "Stout Performance" in Austin? There was one guy recommending them on one of my older topics, but I can't find any other reviews for them. Their website looks pretty good though, and they have some pretty good dyno videos up on YouTube.
I'm sorry for the wall of text and slew of topics, but I've had some bad experiences with tuning in the past and since I still intend on daily driving my car, I'd really like to get the tune done once and right than drive off for 50 miles and have the engine blow.
Here's the URL to Stout Performance: http://stout-performance.com/
And to JMS: http://www.jmsracing.net/. JMS website looks like it recently underwent some changes and it seems like they haven't gotten everything sorted out yet.

"At this time we are focusing on the R35 GT-R platform and only tuning on that application. "
Their logo on the site also currently reads "GT1R", so I think they've gotten out of the Honda game... Besides that, I think they'd be way out of my price range anyway.
Some owners are great enthusiasts and decent people, but I feel like more and more Civics are slipping into the hands of neglectful and immature owners.
/offtopic lol
Is Cartune Performance too far out for you? I've heard great things about the tuner/owner Seth and I'll personally be going to him to get my supercharged S tuned next week. Other than that, I've also heard great stuff about Evans E-tune, a local buddy of mine got his TTS kit e-tuned and has said it's been great.

The E-Tune thing from Evans sounds really interesting, but also throws me for a loop just because it sounds really unorthodox. It also worries me slightly because I feel like the E-Tune would be most effective with pre-built kits (Such as the TTS you mentioned, or the SoS kit, Ptuining, etc...) whereas my build has been all custom-pieced together. I'd also really like to have some face-to-face interaction when I get the car tuned just in case some small sign comes up that something may be installed/running wrong and we can correct it.
On another note, I think I've ruled out JMS Racing. They seem like an OK company, but I'm really unimpressed by a lot of the dyno graphs they have listed on their Instagram: http://instagram.com/jmsracing. You can see numerous small problems with some of those graphs (and those are the ones they feel appropriate to show off...)
I'll keep Cartune in mind and research them more, however I think I'm starting to aim in favour of Stout.... I also haven't completely ruled out the E-Tune as I've never heard a bad thing about Evans, but the entire concept is kinda throwing me off a bit.
Whatever I do end up deciding on, I'll be sure to make a post in the Texas regional forum with a review on how things went for future references.

I'm working with vit viper on my e-tune and have no complaints. I've got a 67mm turbo with all the necessary equipment to support it including ID2000's. It idles great and I've been as high as 23 pounds on e85, it holds 11.5 afr's all the way to redline. Had to turn it down a bit to get traction since I'm only on bridgestone re11a's and they don't like the cool weather at all but when he Flys out to AZ I'll be pushing it on the dyno.
D3's website looks really nice, and it looks like they do some great fab work. If you're willing to share, what's the estimated price of getting your car tuned there?
