Your budget of 5k is unrealistic period! Look in the used section but even then you will need clutch, fuel and ems. If you want reliability look at doubling your budget.

Ugh.....THIS x100000000

What is up with the penny pinchers coming in here as of late.

These aren't civics, keep saving your pennies.
FWIW, $5000 is a lot of money. Some don't realize what it takes to boost the S2000. At least the OP came in to the FI section and asked before he set off on a build with his limited budget.

I agree with passman. You can find a good kit for 3 grand used, maybe a standalone for 800 used, injectors for 300 used, clutch I would go with 500, and a tune for 500. Then miscellaneous boost solenoid, map sensor, recolating maybe battery or oil filter, and maybe a turbo blanket.

Oh I certainly agree that It can be done on the cheaper side...but why?

If you're struggling to afford the kit to begin with, and then what happens when something goes wrong?

It seems that as of late it's a recurring theme here that people are trying to turbo these cars with limited budgets.

IMO an SC kit is more in line for someone on a budget. FFS I dropped a grand just tuning mine...

I'm sorry but you did it. . Boost is boost and regardless it's going to strain the engine and drive train. I'll give it to you it is less heat with a S/C. As far as a budget I'm a veteran who is now going to school but still mess with my car. I have a daily and save for when things break. Doesn't matter the route you take in force induction things are going to break and let go.

Save and keep on saving, remember to play you have to pay. Unless you know how to install a turbo and tune it yourself which it doesn't sound like you do, That along can take 2-5K depending on what is needed and how good the shop is. So I would say at least 10K to have a nice daily reliable setup.

installing a kit isnt too bad for the average enthusiast so you can save a good amount of money there, tuning is another story

Not a bad idea. There is a PLETHORA of information in this sub section of the forum alone. Most of us (myself included) have pretty comprehensive build threads here detailing every step of the way, parts used, trouble that we ran into ect ect.
