Default Turbo engine rebuild

I'm very busy getting my turbo project together.
First off I wanted to install a 2mm cometic HG but now i'm thinking of rebuilding the engine hold the power and drop the cometic.

This is a brief summary of the plans: 16 psi low boost on pump gas, 23 psi high boost on C16 gas, GT3076R turbo.

After talking to Rashed from Automotivespeed, I came up with this list of mods:

- CP pistons
- Pauter rods
- ductile iron sleeves
- Supertech valves, dual springs and seat locators

My questions are:

1. Am I forgetting about anything?

2. Which type of pistons should I get, i'd like the compression at 10:1 but will that withstand 500 whp ?

3. are the CP pistons and Pauter rods coated ?

4. Are the Supertech intake valves oversized? And what is the use of oversizing?

5. are the Supertech exhaust valves nitrite coated? And why?

6. Will 10k rpm be safe with this setup @ 23psi ?

I remember talking to Earl at Laskey Racing when I was going thru my engine build, and he was not a big fan of piston coatings. I would go with what Rashed told you as far as the part list. That's the same stuff I've got in my engine and I've yet to have a problem. I don't remember Earls reasoning for not liking the coatings, but I think had to do with clearnce of the pisotns in the cylinders. The coating on the pistons actually would change the bore size of the piston by a fraction. I may be talking out my ass...

u can get the valves in over size or stock size, i would just go with the inline pro 3mm head gasket instead of the cometic 2mm, the valves are coated, and yes i think the cp pistons with pauter rods would be ur best combo, def give laskey racoing a call, but if ur gonna do pistons thats gonna lower the compression instead of the hg, what kind of head gasket are you guys running with built engines?

That's was I'm planning too, keep the OEM HG and lower compression with pistons.

What do people think of the compression I should go for?
The higher the better for spoolup, the lowerthe better for engine safety...

Higher compression does NOT help spool.

I'm running 9.5:1 Arias pistons on Pauter rods. 16 psi on 91 octane is no problem.

Don't over-complicate things. Choose your engine builder and he will choose the right parts that he feels will make the best engine. All you have to choose is your compression ratio. I left mine at 9.5:1.

As for the head, with dual springs and ti retainers you should be able to handle 10k but your cams won't let you make any power there anyway. I did mine just as a precaution just in case I overrev or whatever with the added power.

The problem is i'm from Holland and my engine builder doesn't have experience with Honda engines, only skylines and supras.
So i'm trying to get as much information from here as I can and make the right decision.

So a 9.5:1 compression should be good, ok.

How about 10.5 with these new internals? Will they be able to handle it?

23 psig boost and 14.7 psia ambient is a 2.56:1 pressure ratio, times 10.5:1 static compression ratio equals about 26:1 effective compression ratio. Pretty high, but I bet it has been done before on C16 fuel. Safe is all in the tune. Avoid detonation at all costs.

You're right, the tune will be very important.

I've decided to go for the 10.5 compression ratio. Let's see how the engine holds up.
