Default Turbo Help!

First off, I'm brand new to the forums so please bear with me. I'm also brand new to the turbo idea. I'm looking at slapping one in my AP1 but before I do I want to upgrade anything else that might need it. What parts/brands would you recommend upgrading to? I don't want to put in a turbo kit and end up breaking something bigger.

Somewhere around 400hp maybe a little more but not too much. It's my daily driver.

How much are you prepared to spend? If buying a new kit, 5-7k. Can you afford to have the car down? You mentioned it's your daily so I'm guessing no on that point. I'd encourage you to go the SC route if it's your daily. It's less down time and you're *less* (not unlikely) to break driveline parts. SC is also less expensive, budget 4-6k. If you can't afford to replace broken parts I'd also advise against going FI.

I have thought about SC. The only thing pushing me towards turbo is the sound. I'm not worried about price, I don't mind spending the money and I'm prepared to have it down for a bit. I just don't want to pour money into a turbo without beefing up other components. I know injectors were recommended by a friend of mine but he didn't say much else.

you can get away with the stock drivetrain if u dont launch the car up to around 5-600 hp, parts that will need to change will be the clutch, injectors, fuel pump, map sensor, prob the exhaust if u dont want restriction, and for some extra grip, the tires

Sound? You only hear the Turbo when your getting on it. With SC you have that nice wine when idle or slowly driving through the parking lot. You don't hear that with a Turbo.

I decided to go with SC haha. Now it's just deciding what to get. I checked out the SOS Stage 1 bolt on kit. It seems really easy but do y'all know of anything better comparably priced? I don't really have a price max but the $6-7k range seems right.

elserdp,
I am not bashing or anything. I would recommend looking at other post within this forum. About the horror and great stories. The SOS is a great kit, dont forget to add in a AEM and some injectors to that price. Also i'd recommend grabbing their clutch kit they have. Get that installed first drive on it for about a week then find a tuner in your area have the install done and work on towing it to the tuner and go from their. Reach out to people asking for some tuners in your area. Like in harrisburg I can go to Innovation motorworks or I can hall my car to Jeff Evan's. Just ensure the tuner has worked on the AEM system before and has s2000 experience. Also 400 whp on a SC is a good bit. Be real your probably going to get around 320-360. Good luck and do some reasearch before you jump the gun.
