Default Turbo Install

I am preparing for a Turbo install. In doing some research, I found this thread:

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=293423

Is tapping the pan an acceptable way of intalling the return line vs. tapping the girdle? I guess tapping the girdle is the way to do it, but is the pan high enough to not cause any problems? I assume so as this is the way fperra and Tinker do theirs.

Any thoughts?

I would much rather tap the pan

Just tap it as high up as you can in the pan.

High on the pil pan... got it.

Would you recommend the same fittings at fperra: http://www.amstreetrod.com/984404ERL.php4

I dont have my kit yet, I am just preparing for it so I don't have all the specs on sizes. What size 45* and straight fitting will I need? I am getting the InlinePro kit

Actually on my current turbo setup I tapped the girdle. However, when I had the Ultimate Racing setup I tapped the oil pan and experienced no problems.

Get the 1/2 inch pipe thread fitting. And its best to have it welded to the pan, although tapping and a lot of Hondabond will work.

Thanks, fperra

Was there an easy method of getting at the girdle? I did look down there and it looks pretty tight for getting a dril down there.

No easy method that I'm aware of. My current setup is a fully built engine. I installed the fitting in the girdle when the block was out of the car.

Gotcha... that would be the easy way to tap the girdle - Yank the motor! plenty of room to get at it that way.

I will tap the oil pan with the 1/2 thread fitting

Thanks for your help
