what kits are really bolt on and do not require modifications like that.

anyone have anymore useful advice for a noob?
No with a 5965B you will not have to cut the frame. Read my build listed in my signature and you will get a big head start.

No modifications and bolt on then your choices are Greddy, Ptuning, Comptech, SOS & Vortech. Then take into account your power goals and Ptuning or SOS & Vortech. My money is on the Vortech or Ptuning.

Just wanted to chime in and say that I received your email this morning.

There's a bunch of turbo kit options out there for the S but I am super happy with my PTuning kit so far and glad I went with it. Not only is their kit one of the best designed kits for the S, in my opinion, they also completely back up their products and are awesome with any kind of questions or support you need through the whole process.

And for anyone with an 06+, the Hondata Flashpro for engine management should be an obvious choice. You don't have to mess with any extra wiring you just plug it in, tune the car, unplug it and you're done. It also doesn't affect your OBD-II port so you are fine with emissions if they require it in your area.

Whatever kit you wind up going with, you need to make sure it's installed CORRECTLY and you need to make sure your tune is safe. This is going to play a huge factor in the reliability of your setup.

yeah the ptuning kit looks good from the pictures that i have seen

i have made the choice to go hondata when i go FI, at least that part of the buuild has been decided. the stuff that you retain and the ability of the system is great.

thats true and is the main reason why i am having someone else install and tune the car, i want to have it reliable, not have a headache after spending so much money to go FI.

It has been a LONG time but here are the few things I remember off the top of my head. The thread really has all the details.

(1) No intercooler mounts (I welded up my own)
(2) Downpipe need to be fabed to match up will factory exhaust. I would suggest not buying the IP DP and having one fabed like TurboKev did.
(3) No mount of provisions for the coolant overflow bottle
(4) No heat shields, wrap....
(5) Standard worm drive clamps
(6) No manifold or turbo gaskets
(8) No instructions
(9) Oil relocation is required but not included
(10) Filter tube not well designed
(11) No wastegate recirc available
(12) One piece intercooler piping is a PITA to deal with
(13) Turbo discharge coupling is too close to the manifold, recommend having an 90deg elbow welded to the turbo.

Obviously there are a lot of things that I also liked.

(1) They probably have cleans best intercooler piping routing
(2) Precision intercooler is nice (though fitment sucks)
(3) Manifold is very heavy duty
(4) Flanges are used rather than Vbands for the turbo and manifold
(5) Turbosmart waste gate
(6) IP blow off valve (Second Gen) was by far my favorite I have used to date
(7) Their welding and piping is high quality
(8) The couplings are high quality

Bottom line, would I buy from the again YES, YA in particular was easy to work with and did a great job dealing with all my questions. Now that I know what I am getting and have the tools and space to do fab work I know that their parts would be top notch.
