Default Turbo manifold ceramic coating

Hey everyone,
I am looking into coating my manifold and downpipe to reduce underhood temps, but I can't seem to find very much information on it. How many people here have coated their manifolds/turbos, and what are the best coatings out there to reduce under-hood temps. I would probably be more interested in a coating that goes on the inside and outside of the manifold and that can stand the heat of a turbo engine. Thanks!

Pics would be appreciated

I have talked to PANG about this (you have his manifold I believe) he recommended to me Swaintech, he says sometimes HPC flakes off on the inside and that it has potential to go into your turbo .

I am going to send my stuff to Swaintech

Jet Hot 2000 is a very good one too. Ive had mine on for 3 years or so without a problem. I only did the manifold and not the dp though. Ive heard negative things about coating the dp. Supposedly it can cause them to crack at the welds over time because of the thinner wall ss that is used. Basically the same reason why you dont want to wrap the dp.

I've had JET, HPC, SwainTech, and local coatings. The black ones are nice for appearance. I don't care for the chrome ones. The SwainTech white lightning was probably the best performing, but was easy to get dirty.

Ditto,
I've also had Jet Hot, HPC, and Swain.

-Jet Hot back in 2004 = flaked off Subaru STI manifold after 1 year

-HPC extreme = flaked off Subaru STI up-pipe after a few months - recoated under warranty but a hassle and still have to pay outbound freight

-HPC standard = so far it's still ok on Subaru and also had it on Berk NA header, good for downpipe or NA header

-SwainTech White Lightning = used on uppipe, turbine housing, and downpipe for Subaru. It has been the best, it doesn't flake. The ceramic coating is only applied externally. I wouldn't want coating on the inside of the header, it may flake off and not a good thing if a big chunk goes thru turbine blades spinning @ 100,000 rpm.

You can use VHT ceramic Hi-temp paint on the Swain coating if you don't like it white. It works very well. See pic below.

Go with Swain, you won't be disappointed.... just be prepared for the long turn around. Usually it takes them 3 to 4 weeks to get your stuff shipped from their facilities. They're always busy, especially around the busy season starting in Spring. Well worth the wait.

Oh... don't forget to "clean" some of the coating that inevitably gets on the flanges, easy to do, just use a blade to scrape it off the edges of all flanges to insure it doesn't interfere with sealing. Most likely it won't because of the gaskets, but it's something easy to do anyway.

Lots of pics on this member's build + exquisite heat shields

Pang told me to go for Swain as well. I'm getting the White Lightning on as much as possible. On top of that they will spray it with Black Gloss to make it look good.
Getting the manifold, turbo, IC-piping, downpipe, dumptubes and valve cover(only black gloss) done.

is there anything that is DIYable and has heat dispersing qualities? maybe something with ceramic in it?

Ive seen the ceramic paints in home depot...do you think that would work for a low temp application? I know if you follow proper curing these things they work much better.
