BBQ paint works just fine. I usually spray about ten coats on the center section. My turbine is stainless so it just turned gold. Two seasons and looks great still. I just taped up where the inlet/outlet flanges go.

You know the more I think about this and the more I look at the turbo...the more I wonder why BW would not coat this piece from the factory. So, I decided to call them and ask. After about 5 minutes running through their automated phone system and not able to get an actual human being, i decided to send them an email. I have sent two email over the past several weeks and they have not responded to either.

I ordered a product from KBS called Extreme, this is what KBS suggested. I will post some pics of the finished product when I get the material in hand.

I will continue to pursue BW to find out why this is an issue.

The vendor (Full Race) has already given their solution to the issue (initial post).

Its called calyx dressing I saw it in that magazine and ordered it, it seems to work well, but you have to get it in every nook or the spots that you missed will still rust.

Do you park your car outside or in a garage? Driven in the rain? My BW turbo looks brand new (on the car for 4 months now; no coating/etc).
Not even the center nut on the compressor side? Mine rusted. Looks like Shit.
No rust at all. Didn't you hide the bolt using an air filter? Out of sight, out of mind, right? lol

The first coat of KBS Coatings Xtreme Temperature Coating applied. Now I have to wait 8 hours and then bring up to operating temperature so the resin activates...then I can apply more coats...probably apply at least 3. They have several colors to choose from and since they have no purple...I went with Charcoal Metallic...it is almost identical to the original color of the metal.

I wonder if my Garrett gtx3582r is also gonna rust? It is brand new zero miles. I keep my queen always in the garage and never sees rain. I do have the cut out vented hood tho.. will my Garrett rust like BW? I paid over 2k for just the ball bearing turbo Hope for the price it don't rust

I hope it doesn't...but I don't think it has to do with the price...cuz the Full Race Kit with the EFR aint cheap.

If it stays in the garage you may be alright but it doesn't hurt to protect it with high temp paint.
