Default Turbo Timer

I am going to be installing my custom turbo kit very soon and I am trying to figure out 2 things. One what are the major gauges needed I think so far I'm going to get a AEM tru-boost an A/F gauge and Oil Pressure? And the second thing is is a turbo timer really necessary on an oil cooled turbo.?

Not really. Just make sure that you let the car idle for a few mins before you shut it down after running it for a lil while. That is all the turbo timer does. It keeps the car on for a set amount of time to allows the turbine to slow down WHILE there is oil moving through the unit. With the motor off the turbine will still spin but WITHOUT oil moving through the system. What this does is cook or "coke" the oil that is left inside the turbo which will end up seizing you turbine up and you will need to have it rebuilt. If you drive your car smart, you dont need half the "dummy" devices out there.

really 30-60 seconds would be sufficent. as long as you werent beating up your car right before you pull in to park it. i let it idle for a minute at most. if you beat the crap out of it, might be best to let it idle for 2 minutes.

forgot to answer your first question... the aem tru boost is good. Rather then getting the a/f gauge i would get a wideband. the a/f gauges tend to be very inaccurate. a wideband is dead on the money. Oil pressure guage is very nice to have because a lot of engine failures are a result of oil pressure. especially with all the extra oil lines you need in order to install a turbo on one of our cars. something can always fail and a oil pressure guage will be there to monitor. goodluck!

Good deal the extra money I save on not buying a turbo timer I will just get a wideband. Now where does the sensor go for it?
