Default Uprated/built transmission options

Hi all,

My S2000 in a BMW 2002 coat is nearing full completion.

It's Rotrex SCed and making good power and torque.

I've noticed on a couple of early test runs that under full load the trans will 'crunch' occasionally in to 2nd. Are there any options for rebuild kits or aftermarket trans? I've considered the Quaife Sequential...

Thanks in advance.

How much power and torque do you make?

If you go with the Quaife Sequential option, keep us posted.

I'm running a Quaife sequetial with Geartronics Paddleshifter,It's a 69 g with straight cut gears and is an absolute pig to use on the street. Its noisy, snatchy and unless you a ragging the ass off the car i certainly wouldn't recomend. Its also very expensive.....my complete setup is well in excess of $20.000.

besides the noise, what makes it a pig to use on the street?

Seems like if you don't give it enough gas it bucks pretty hard.

Originally it ran 373bhp and 237lbft, but then I changed the exhaust...

It was back on the rollers today and ran 364bhp and 306lbft. No sure that makes a lot of sense to me lol (although, they have changed their rollers).

The build is:

Rotrex C38-81
Deutsche Werks 1000cc injectors
TTS mounting kit with 8 row poly vee pulleys
Rotrex S/C oil system, reservoir, filter, cooler rad,
CP Carrillo pistons 10:1
Brian Crowler steel con rods,
Emerald ECU

It's very crude,as in it is either drive or overrun with no cushion in between,on the down changes if I don't use the clutch I can lock the wheels. It is very noisy requiring earplugs inside the car.......when you hear race car videos with the straight cut gear wyne it gives no indication of how loud it is.

The kind of power I was shooting for only really left me with 2 choices, the 2jz and the Quaife,I chose the latter because it's a UK based company. It is liveable but it spoils what is quite a nicely modded car.Once up and running the gear changes up and down a quite sweet and very quick, but once down to town traffic speeds its a nightmare.

Quaife do a helical gear set which would be better but I needed longer ratios so my only choice was straight cut.....you pays your money and makes your choice,I chose the wrong gear set.

The gearbox would be perfect as a circuit race car and would come into its own, but on the street in town traffic it's not nice.
