Talking used supercharger

Im thinking about going with a supercharger but dont have the cash to buy a new one... what is everyones experience with used kits? I just dont want to buy in to a whole bunch of trouble. Also, what have you people with superchargers seen as far as reliability goes?

As long as it is in good working condition you wil be fine getting a used one. Sometimes you hear story of people being short a bolt here or there, but those are easy to come by. You also may need a few other parts that the seller wouldnt sell with the kit. Sometimes they dont come with the fuel pump. Also an easy replacement. Good luck man.

no worries, just make sure the blower is good. blowers last a long time though...some people go 100k miles without ever having to have a rebuild. WORST case scenario you would need a blower rebuild which is ~$300-$400. everything else that comes with a supercharger kit is pretty much simple parts. once all the parts are there you should be fine, and like Ian stated, if something's missing it's usually a small part that's easy to come by.

one thing i will caution against is buying an older comptech kit. if the mounting bracket is the one that says "Comptech S2000" on it, it's the older one and they are prone to cracking. i fixed mine 2 times and each time it just cracked again, so i had to just put out the $700 to convert it to the new and revised mounting system.

good luck

Not to deter you from used setups, as I think I see most aftercooled setups at around $3000, and the new Science of Speed is expecting a price of $4000 for a new kit. (but non aftercooled) This is not THAT much more expensive for a newer kit with a newer model blower and room to upgrade in the future.

Just one more option to look at......
