Default The V160 transplant is underway

I finally pulled the trigger on buying a V160 so I don't have to worry about breaking any more stock trannies. I am having Jacks Transmissions do the Stage 1 build on it before it gets to me. I will use this thread to post photos of the entire process from shipping to receiving, unboxing, installing etc. A buddy of mine found a guy/friend that had a spare v160 that came with the Supra he bought. Since he didn't know the condition of the trans other than a suspected synchro, I made a deal and had him send the trans to Jack's and let them inspect it to make sure its buildable before I paid him; he agreed.

We tested the transmission for basic functionality by putting it in every gear and rotating the output shaft. We didn't hear anything strange like clunking or metal grinding which was good. It could be a good tranny but I'm not chancing it

V160 - $2500
Stage 1 build - $2100

I was very impressed by the service Jack's offers and cant wait to get it back.

I believe that those in the past who reported the transmission to be clunky may have experienced issue with worn parts because when I reviewed Jack's services on the Supra Forums, they said it shift butter smooth and was dead silent. Many others have also stated to ONLY use the Toyota fluid. I did hear that this trans with a twin disc does make more noise but its hit or miss.

To be continued...

I had the stage 1 rebuild done to mine , didn't really notice a difference in shifting after. if youre using the cm twin disk that comes with the full blown kit it will be loud....very loud.
this is what it will sound like

The $2k price tag is only for the rebuild, it does not include the tranny.
