VAFC & 550's... gains to be had?
i have found thread upon thread of people who say, "yes use it! its super cheap and allows for a slight advantage over JUST the comptech FPR and ESM."(meaning: add the VAFC&550's along with the other 2 items)
then there are those who say, "hell no. just install the kit and go."
of course with the vafc, i could install a set of RC550s which would give me a little more room for a dyno tune to get the AFR's spot on. and not have to rely only on comptechs FPR.
weigh in your opinions here gents.
i am not going standalone. i am not going for 9 billion hp. i just want to see if the VAFC, some 550's, and a couple dyno runs with my tuner could get this ap2 into the 325whp range. or if i should just avoid all that and install it out of the box and go about my business.
thanks!

If only
You are retaining the stock ECU and using a VAFC2 therefore adding 550CC injectors will not work. The car will not run properly/idle due the ECU being mapped for 360cc injectors (pulsewidth+deadtime is different).
You need a standalone or greddy emanage etc.

^ok. i was thinking exactly along those lines myself before i even started searching.
so the v-afc would be beneficial?

I believe the original CT kits did not come with a lowered VTEC engagement, but if you were buying a new kit, I think it comes with a pre-programmed piggyback which offers a lowered VTEC engagement and appropriate fueling?
see, i didnt know about that either. its heir ESM(electronic signal modifier) and i thought that was an A/F and Map sensor tricking device.
anyone got a recent comptech ap2 kit? 1220sl or not, the ESM is still the same.

thats the thing. stock pulley and injectors etc, all run fine off stock ecu. so the standalone at those levels is pointless.
ive been down the AEMv2 road. and its totally unnecessary with the stage 1/base kit. just wondered if the vafc would allow for any tuning gains . not trying to run a 1500 and 400+whp here...
