vafc 2 hp gains?
Hello there
I just called a so called "specialist" shop for hondas, and acuras, and I had mentioned if I were to install a vafc 2 on my 02 s2000 would I get any hp gains?
He said " honda actually does a fine job tuning the car stock, with the fuel, and air mixture, so the vafc 2 would be a waste of money, and your time.
Can anyone please HONESTLY let me know if I would be wasting my money purchasing a vafc 2 for my car?
Thank you,
P.S. I have a aem v2 on it as well...

I think the problem is that everyone with a dyno sheet gets the reading the DAY the ECU is reset. It would be great to see a dyno pull the day of the install (with the ECU just having been reset), and a pull a few weeks later (under similar conditions weather wise and at the same shop on the same dyno) to see if the ECU does indeed "correct" itself over time. I have heard that the VAFC does not work on vehicles that have a MAP (Manifold Air Pressure) sensor (as opposed to a Mass Airflow Sensor) due to the placement of the MAP sensor downstream from any corrections the VAFC would have made to the Air / Fuel ratios.....
I too am on the fence, but until I see some solid data confirming that this "correction" does not take place, I will hold off.

the VAFC intercepts the signal from the MAP sensor on its way to the ECU and alters it so that the ECU is tricked into providing different amounts of fuel.
I cannot believe how people are still perpetuating this myth that VAFC tuning will be cancelled out and your peformance gains will be gone
i got a vafc II not tuned..and all i do is adjust the vtec lower..and it actually does nothing but killing the torque to me if i set it too low..somehow i just want to tuned it but don't know if there would be any differents or just take it out..by the way i only got a injen intake..and i got skunk2 exhaust and testpipe coming on the way hopefully it will do something

you've done nothing but throw in the equipment and play around with the vtec engagement point. You have no idea what the optimal engangement point to set it to is without putting the car on a dyno. You have no idea what your A/F ratio is. You have no idea what your A/F is doing during the VTEC mismatch, and if you are hurting your engine.
