Default Vortech Kit/belt

Ok we recently installed my kit at the belt keeps coming loose. Have anyone else had this problem? I looked at the bolt and tensioner and everything looks fine. Is there suppose to be a lock nut or washer at the other end of the long bolt to lock it in place when tightned? I can tighten it, drive about 25 miles and its loose again. Im thinking about putting a nut on the other end to hold it better. Any other ideas before i call Vortech?

This is from a prior thread and includes pulling the assembly to replace the pulley or repair: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...f=142&t=750483

It should help answer your question. Generally the tension loss is due to improper tightening of the mechanism. This also leads to damage and the quoted thread was in response to damaged parts needing to be replaced. You must access the lock nut on the pulley from underneath the car prior to and after adjusting otherwise you will damage the mechanism and the belt will not tighten properly.

The belt adjustment is a two step process each way. You have to loosen the nut on the pulley before twisting the screw to adjust. You also have to tighten it back up after adjusting. The pulley nut is reached from under the car.

To change the pulley or damaged parts, pull the supercharger with the bracket.
To remove:
Pull the intake off.
Pull the belt and inspect.
Loosen the hose clamps and move the intercooler off to the right.
Seven nuts/bolts must be removed to pull the whole assembly.
two x 10mm, 2 x 9/16, 2 x 1/2 and the idler bolt that is 14mm if I remember correctly.
V2 you can leave the oil line hooked up.

You need to slide the whole assemble forward at the bottom so the plate escapes the two long studs and then you can lift it up slightly and rest it on the cross member.
Put a towel on the crossmember to avoid scratches.

Pull the adjusting assembly off the plate.

I suggest you take your time and do this correctly. Get new bolts (2) for the U shaped collar. The factory ones are too short. Install with locktite.

Frequently when this happens the threads inside of the arbor are messed up too.
Disassemble the adjusting screw and arbor. See if you can get the screw out of the arbor. Several times I have had to replace both pieces. Call Vortech and order a new adjusting screw and if needed arbor.

Thanks. I sent you a pm about the lock nut. So to get this right, i have to set the tension with the belt and then go from underneath and tighten the pulley nut under the car for easier access correct?
