Vortech Supercharger
Hey guys I am trying to figure out if I will need a rebuild or what this problem could be. My s/c ihas a little shaft play and the pulley belt is jumping a rib during the dyno session and currently still is. I am still getting full 10 psi. We loosened it and put it back on correctly and it still jumped. The belt doesn't move after it jump that one rib and pretty much stay put. I didn't have this problem before (312hp 198tq) now (350hp 220tq after retune) both at 10psi. Have anyone ever ran into this situation before?
How much shaft play are we talking?
Any odd noises coming from the unit?
Have you checked all of the S/C drive pulleys for proper alignment?
What kind of pulley is on it?
Ever consider one of the pulleys with a ridge to prevent belt jumping?
Mine kept jumping ribs last year, this was why. I doubt this is your reason, though.

The raised lip (ridge in the above post) makes all the difference.
Vortech pulleys are lacking the raised outer part of the pulleys that holds the belt in place.
A little too much torque to the belt and .......... belt jump.
ASP pulleys have the raised lip as do many aftermarket pulleys.

The Reichard Racing pulley is only available at 3.6 inches or less.

Get a raised lip pulley and be done with the problem.

Make the change and tell us if it eliminated the mid throttle bog.
